Continental Names DeSalle President of Hoosier Racing Tire

Oct. 24, 2016

Continental Tire the Americas LLC didn't have to look far for someone to take over Hoosier Racing Tire Corp.

John DeSalle (pictured), who joined Hoosier in 1989, is the new president. He replaces Joyce Newton, who co-founded the company with her late husband, Bob, in 1957. Newton and her family sold the company to Continental earlier this month.

As president, DeSalle will report to Dr. Jochen Etzel, chief executive officer of both Continental Tire the Americas and Hoosier Racing Tire. DeSalle also will continue in his role as vice president of engineering and manufacturing.

DeSalle began his career with Hoosier developing radial race tire technology. Over the years, he took on more responsibilities, including managing all of Hoosier’s tire engineering, test labs and plant scheduling. He was promoted to vice president of engineering and manufacturing in 2010.

"John has been with Hoosier for more than 20 years and brings extensive knowledge in the racing tire segment, an area of business that is new for Continental,” says Etzel. "In addition, John and his team at Hoosier are known for their technical product knowledge, quality manufacturing, outstanding service and consistent performance."

Based in Lakeville, Ind., Hoosier supplies tires for most racing applications throughout the world. For more information, check out these links:
