Reno, Nev.-based Reno Vulcanizing Auto Care is gearing up to celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2022. As part of the festivities, the company plans to raffle off a restored 1929 Model A pickup truck in September.

Proceeds will be split evenly between The Nevada Diabetes Association (NDA), The National Automobile Museum and Veterans Guest House, a Reno, Nev.-based non-profit that provides military veterans and their families with temporary accommodations when they are receiving medical treatment.

Other centennial plans include a celebration at The National Automobile Museum in January that Reno Vulcanizing will host. The museum - which is located in Reno - features more than 200 classic cars, including some that the dealership has serviced over the years.

In June, Reno Vulcanizing will sponsor the 15th annual “Driving Fore Diabetes” Charity Golf Tournament, which over the years has raised more than $500,000 for the NDA and its summer camp.

Also during the summer, the dealership will hold a family day event - including a free concert - for its employees and guests.

And in October 2022, the company will stage an event that will announce the distribution of charitable funds.

Reno Vulcanizing - which is owned by brothers Steve and Mitch Besso, plus Mitch’s son, Josh Besso - was founded by Augustino “Gus” Besso and Frank Menante, two immigrants from Italy.

The company has three locations and bills itself as one of the oldest continuously owned Goodyear dealerships in the country.

“Always adapting with the times and embracing the latest technological resources, Reno Vulcanizing has maintained standards of excellence in automotive repair and award-winning customer service for the last century,” say company officials.

“We believe in developing and maintaining long-term relationships with our clients by providing honest, quality service. We are honored to call Nevada our home and as our centennial has arrived, we are extremely proud to give back to the community that has kept us in business for 100 years.”
