Truck OEMs Taking 'Cautious Approach,' Says ACT Research

Jan. 12, 2022

Truck manufacturers are "taking a more cautious approach to effectively manage the cycle of customer expectations," says Kenny Vieth, president and senior analyst at ACT Research.

According to ACT, preliminary Class 8 truck orders totaled 22,800 units last month, while Class 5 through Class 7 net orders dropped to 18,100 units.

December's Class 8 orders showed an improvement over previous-month orders, but were "the second-weakest of the year, reflecting ongoing supply-side shortages that continue to constrain production."
