Former Michelin/TCI Executive Dave Snyder Dies

Dave Snyder, former executive vice president of Michelin North America Inc.’s Tire Centers LLC (TCI) organization, recently died. He was 80 years old.

After graduating from The University of Akron (Ohio), Snyder started his career at BFGoodrich and helped launch TCI in 1986. During his tenure, TCI grew to encompass 77 distribution centers throughout the United States.

Following his retirement from Michelin in 2010, Snyder bought six TCI retail locations, including two in Colorado, one in Ohio, one in Wisconsin, one in Kentucky and another in Missouri.

“Tire retailing is something I have been very passionate about for a long time,” Snyder told MTD.

Preceded by his mother, Rhea Spikerman Snyder, and his son, D.J. Snyder, he is survived by his wife of 34 years, Betty; three sons, Scott Snyder (Denise), Ryan Richards (Tara) and Sean Richards (Nicole); brother, Terry Snyder; eight grandchildren; and other relatives.

According to his obituary, “Dave was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends.”

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Snyder’s life on Sat., Feb. 5, from 12 p.m.  to 3 p.m. at LaLa’s in The Lakes, located at 4315 Manchester Rd.; Akron, Ohio.

 In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
