The Ohio Tire & Automotive Association (OTAA) hosted a hockey night in Columbus, Ohio, for its members. Callahan and Casey also are OTAA board members.

“Networking is part of the value of an association,” Alex Boehnke, legislative director of the Ohio Tire & Automotive Association (OTAA), told MTD during the group’s March 1 get-together at a Columbus Blue Jackets National Hockey League game.

The event, which was attended by OTAA members from around “The Buckeye State,” was two years in the making, according to Boehnke. “We were supposed to do this in March 2020, but COVID-19 delayed it.”

The hockey night was sponsored by Flynn's Tire & Auto Service, Tire Discounters Inc., Liberty Tire Recycling, American Tire Distributors Inc. and Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

The OTAA also holds an annual golf outing each summer. During last year's event, the association donated $1,500 to Maria’s Message, a non-profit that seeks to raise awareness around the menace of distracted driving.

Boehnke says OTAA will make another donation to the foundation this summer.

“Safety is top of mind for tire dealers. They preach it to their customers. We believe it’s incumbent on us to magnify that message.”
