Community Wholesale Tire Inc. has opened a new warehouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The tire distributor has opened three new locations in the Midwest in the last seven years.
The Cedar Rapids location, which opened in mid-January, includes 100,000 square-feet of space.
The company also operates warehouses in Missouri, in Kansas City, Springfield and St. Louis, and in Peoria, Ill.
Community Wholesale Tire has more than 300 employees and says the average length of employment is more than six years — 23 employees have at least 20 years of company service, and five more have been on board for at least 40 years.
The Berra family owns and operates the company, which serves more than 4,500 tire dealers in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Arkansas and Oklahoma. The company has more than 800,000 square feet of warehousing space and an inventory of more than $40 million.
The company says its family ownership and personal relationships allow for "excellent customer service for every dealer, big or small." Community Tire Wholesale supports the family's foundation, which has surpassed $2 million in donations in the last five years.
Community Tire Wholesale also operates the Independent Tire Dealers marketing program for retail dealers.
