Marvin Bozarth has been honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his many contributions to the retreading industry over the decades.
Bozarth worked for Purcell Tire & Rubber Co. for many years before serving as the executive director of the American Retreaders Association (ARA), which later became the International Tire and Rubber Association and merged with the Tire Association of North America to form the Tire Industry Association (TIA) in 2002.
He served as TIA's senior technical consultant until he retired in 2018.
During Bozarth's time at TIA, he served as "the go-to source for all TIA members involved in the retreading and repairing industries."
“We are grateful for the decades of service that Marvin has provided the membership and wish him well as he begins the next chapter of his life,” TIA CEO Dr. Roy Littlefield said at the time.
“Marvin and I have worked together since he started with the association and his knowledge of the industry has played a crucial role in all of our government affairs efforts. He is an industry icon who will be missed by everyone in the tire business.”
Current TIA CEO Dick Gust recently said "there is no one in the industry more knowledgeable about retreaded tires than Marvin Bozarth. Marvin was a mentor to many people in the industry. There is no one more deserving to get the lifetime achievement award for retreading tires."
"Nobody knew retreading at the level of Marvin Bozarth, with his experience in passenger, light truck, truck and OTR retreading and repairing," Terry Westhafer, former ARA president and president of Central Tire Corp., told Kevin Rohlwing, TIA's senior vice president of training, last year.
Bozarth's "stamp on the industry and (TIA) will be forever remembered," Rohlwing wrote in an article that appeared in the association's house publication in late-2021.
Bozarth was honored by Valebridge Media Services, which is based in the United Kingdom.
