Bartec Expands Placard Coverage for Tech400Pro TPMS Tool

Sept. 29, 2016

Bartec USA LLC's Tech400Pro and Tech500 tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) tools can now adjust the recommended inflation pressure (RIP or placard) for 23 additional vehicles.

The company says seven of these additions are new coverage.

“Having the ability to adjust a vehicle’s recommended inflation pressure when up-fitting or plus-sizing remains a very important feature according to automotive service providers and tire retailers that we speak to,” says Scot Holloway, CEO of Bartec USA.

“Bartec is working every day to drive this coverage forward, because it is a game changer for TPMS and it’s a huge opportunity for service providers in the aftermarket,” says Holloway.

Bartec advises that it is best practice that whenever wheel and tire combinations are either plus-sized, or up-fitted (like moving from a “P” rated tire to an “LT” tire), the recommended inflation pressure [RIP] should be changed in order to maintain the same load carry capacity for the vehicle.

This recommendation applies to cars and light trucks. When the RIP changes, the TPMS must be recalibrated, otherwise the trigger point for low tire pressure will not be accurate. Adjusting the vehicles RIP (or placard) keeps the TPMS operative and the consumer safe.

Bartec will be demonstrating this process as well as a number of new products at this year’s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show and the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) shows.  Visit the Bartec booths to register for one of FIVE Tech400Pro Master Kits to be given away as part of in booth drawing.
