Yokohama Tire Corp.'s newest commercial truck tire offering - the 716U ultra wide-base - "is a weight-savings drive tire that carries more profitability for fleets," according to Yokohama officials. It’s available now in the United States in size 455/55R225.
“The 716U UWB is designed specifically for waste, recycle and on/off-road severe service operations, where maximizing payload capacity really counts,” says Tom Clauer, Yokohama’s senior manager of commercial product planning.
Features include a load range of M for increased payload capacity; powerful zig-zag grooves for enhanced traction and wet-weather grip; an advance compound that resists scrubbing, cuts and chipping for long original tread life; a zero-degree belt that adds stability for a consistent foot print and long, even wear; and more.
"Additionally, the funnel-shaped step grooves prevent stones and debris from reaching the bottom of the groove, where casing damage occurs, and an extremely durable casing with an extra-thick sidewall resists damage from potholes and curbing and allows for increased retreadability."
