TIA Resolution Focuses on Right to Repair

Nov. 1, 2022

Tire Industry Association (TIA) membership approved a resolution renewing support of Right to Repair legislation during the group’s annual meeting on Oct. 31 in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Right to Equitable and Professional Auto Industry Repair Act (H.R. 6570) would preserve consumer access to high quality, affordable vehicle repair by ensuring that vehicle owners and independent repair shops - including tire dealerships - have equal access to repair and maintenance tools and data as car dealerships.

“We are very active in meeting with congress about the Right to Repair,” says Dick Gust, CEO, TIA.

“This act remains a top priority at TIA.”

The resolution states that TIA will support Right to Repair and continue to explore  options for federal legislation in support of the effort. In addition, it urges the authorizing committees within Congress to consider Right to Repair legislation.

With its passage, the resolution will be added to all other resolutions adopted by the association previously to dictate association policy. In addition, it will be forwarded to the TIA membership, related industry associations, tire manufacturers and to all 435 members of the House of Representatives and to the 100 United States senators.
