Bridgestone unveils new giant mining tire

Dec. 12, 2002

The recently introduced Firestone 70/70-57 Super Rock Grip Deep Tread tire is being used on LeTourneau Inc.'s new L-2350, "the world's largest front end loader," according to Bridgestone/Firestone Off Road Tire Co. (BFOR) officials.

The tire, which is being used at the Triton North Rochelle Mine in Gillette, Wyo., stands nearly 13 feet tall and weighs almost eight tons.

It was designed in tandem with LeTourneau, say BFOR officials.
