Continental supplies tires to Ford Rangers

July 26, 2002

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) has started supplying P225/70R15 Conti-Trac tires for original equipment fitment on Ford Ranger pick-up trucks.

The tires are being installed on nearly 50% of all 2002 Rangers being assembled, according to CTNA officials.

"Because the same tire is specified on the Ranger that Ford will refresh for model year 2003, Continental anticipates continuing to provide Ford with tires."

The Conti-Trac tires are made at CTNA's Mount Vernon, Ill., factory, which manufactures more than 24,000 passenger tires a day at full capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.

Continental brand tires come OE on 5% of Ford Motor Co.'s light vehicles in the United States and Canada, while CTNA's General brand enjoys 21% share of that population.
