Hankook's Concept Tire Wins Red Dot Award

July 20, 2016

An off-road concept tire by Hankook Tire Co. Ltd., the DynaSync, has won a Red Dot Design Award 2016 for design concept.

The DynaSync is the result of a collaboration with Vibram, an outsole company. It's designed to be the next generation off-road tire, enabling safe and powerful driving in off-road conditions. It features Vibram’s Carrarmato lugs design on its tread pattern to improve traction in mountainous terrain. The honeycomb structure grooves are designed to prevent puncture or tire chips due to gravel or stones, while also improving shock absorption and providing safe handling. The sidewall comes in a variety of color compounds, allowing car owners to match the tires to their car’s body color.

Seung Hwa Suh, vice chairman and CEO of Hankook Tire says, “It is a great honor that Hankook Tire once again has been recognized for its innovative technology by the prestigious Red Dot Design Award. Receiving the award solidifies Hankook Tire’s commitment and determination to lead future driving through progressive innovation and creative design. Hankook Tire will continue to contribute to advancement in driving with aspiration for innovative technology.”

This is the fourth time in 2016 Hankook tires have received international design awards, following the iF Design Award in February, Mercury Excellence Awards and awards in the product design category at Red Dot Design Award in March.

The tire maker will receive its design concept award during a ceremony on Sept. 22nd, 2016, at the Red Dot Design Museum in Singapore.
