Hankook Tire Gets Second Place at Formula Drift Round 5

July 18, 2016

For the second consecutive event, Hankook Tire driver Chris Forsberg finished in second place following a dynamic performance at Formula Drift Round 5: True North in Montreal, Canada.

Forsberg extends his streak of consecutive podium finishes to four after edging out Vaughn Gittin Jr. in the semi-finals of the inaugural Formula Drift Pro Championship international event.

Dry track conditions, warm temperatures and an excited crowd led to one of the most competitive events of the year. Forsberg, racing in his Hankook Tire/Nissan 370Z, battled his way back into the finals helping Hankook Tire climb up the Tire Championship standings. He faced off with Hankook Tire teammate and friend Ryan Tuerck before advancing to the semi-finals where he found revenge against Gittin following last month’s championship showdown at Wall Speedway.

“It was an insane weekend with some of the craziest battles I’ve ever seen in Formula Drift, and I’m just so happy to podium again with Hankook Tire,” said Forsberg. “It was my first time competing at St-Eustache so I was very happy to go all the way to the finals and put on a great show. We felt fast and confident all weekend, and we are continuing to get closer to that first place podium this year.

Forsberg’s fourth consecutive podium finish and back-to-back second place finish helps maintain his third place ranking in the 2016 standings while bringing him within 30 points of first place.

“Autodrome St-Eustache was a great venue and allowed for some of the fastest drifting speeds I’ve seen this year,” said Donato Bonacquisto, Hankook Tire Motorsports Marketing Manager. “Chris continued his streak by making it all the way to the final round through confident driving on his Hankook Ventus R-S3 tires. It was great to have all four Hankook sponsored drivers finish in the Top 16.”

In addition to an exciting Formula Drift event in Canada, Hankook Tire helped DTM driver Jamie Green celebrate his first win of the season following Sunday’s DTM event in the Netherlands.

Formula Drift heads to Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington on August 5th for Formula Drift Round 6: Throwdown.
