Omni United Acquires A to Z Tire

June 30, 2016

Omni United (S) Pte. Ltd. has made its second acquisition in the United States with the purchase of Amarillo, Texas-based A to Z Tire & Battery Inc.

A to Z Tire serves a network of more than 6,000 dealers across six states in the west and south regions including Montana, California, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. A to Z Tire currently manages 21 locations with over 500,000 square feet of warehousing space. The company was founded in 1926 as Amarillo Bus Co.

A to Z Tire carries Toyo, Cooper, Atturo, Firestone, Roadmaster, Gladiator, Samson and other brands. The company will continue to distribute these brands and add Goodride and Omni United’s brands such as Radar Tires and the newly launched Timberland Tires. The Timberland Tires brand is manufactured in partnership with outdoors lifestyle fashion and footwear brand Timberland.

Omni United says the acquisition of A to Z Tire is the next strategic step towards scaling up its multi brand distribution business in the U.S.

“We are excited about this acquisition as it takes the distribution business in our core market to the next level. Acquisitions like these gives us an opportunity to work with other manufacturers and collectively design the next generation of technology for distribution. With the tools that are available today, there is tremendous efficiency that can be brought into the distribution business” says GS Sareen, founder and CEO of Omni United.

Following the acquisition, Omni United’s footprint in the U.S. will encompass 29 warehouses with a total capacity close to a million square feet and a network of over 10,000 dealers spanning eight states within the west and south regions.

“The future will be about providing transparency and efficiency to the principals so that they have a better view of the business and as a result a better control of the brand they own,” says Sareen.

“We are purely the custodians of the brand and it is only logical that we work with the principals in a partnership mode rather than the traditional customer and supplier way. We want to provide efficiency and benefits of synergies that we gain with acquisitions like this to both our retail customers and to the manufacturers.

“Our passion and drive is to bring in efficiency to tire distribution and to service as many retail outlets as we can. We will continue to plot our own distribution in areas where we currently don’t have distribution arrangements” says Sareen.

Over the next few months the company’s focus will be on consolidating the distribution businesses and seamlessly integrating A to Z Tire and the recently acquired Interstate Tire Distributor business into one single operative unit under a new brand identity.

“I am very excited about A to Z Tire’s acquisition by Omni United,” says Philip Nussbaum, president of A to Z Tire.

“Omni brings to the table a lot in terms of product lines, programs and business capital needed to grow and service our customers in a very competitive market place. Also, I am excited about the future opportunities that Omni’s plans hold for our employees.

“Additionally, GS Sareen, founder and CEO of Omni United, is a man of vision and is optimistic about what the future holds for the company. I find his innovative approach of doing business very exciting,” says Nussbaum.

Based in Singapore, Omni United is a tire designer and manufacturer offering a complete range of passenger car, SUV, truck, bus and farms tires marketed under a number of bands: Radar Tires, Timberland Tires, Goodride, Birla, Roadlux and Speedways.

Omni United acquired Interstate Tire Distributor Inc., a California-based tire wholesaler, in October 2015. The company named Brett Martin to lead its U.S. distribution business in May 2016.
