Mahindra Racing will supply all of its teams with a brand-new, upgraded gear shifter at the Catalan Grand Prix.
The new component will improve the constructor’s Moto3 World Championship motorcycle, the MGP3O, resolving an issue experienced by some of its riders during the first part of the 2016 season.
The new component is of bespoke Mahindra Racing design, built in-house at the company’s Research and Development center in Besozzo, Italy. The center boasts a full complement of technical staff and state-of-the-art development facilities that allow the only Indian constructor in World Championship motorcycle racing to become fully independent in its development of the MGP3O.
Mahindra Racing is working on numerous upgrades for all aspects of the Mahindra Moto3 machine, with the aim of maximizing the performance of the 2016 bike and developing significant upgrades for the 2017 season.
The new gear shifter has undergone a rigorous testing program with the Mahindra Racing junior team in the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship, where it has proven to be highly effective, providing a clear improvement to the previous shifter. The junior team provides an extremely important testbed for Mahindra Racing, evaluating parts that will be added in later 2016 upgrades, as well as engine updates that, under the rules of the class, cannot be introduced until the 2017 season.
