Falken Tire prepares for Pikes Peak

June 28, 2002

The race to the top of Pikes Peak begins tomorrow, with Falken Tire Corp. behind all the participants.

Falken is the sole sponsor of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, a 12.4-mile race in Colorado that features 156 turns -- with no guardrails. This is the second year in a row the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based tire company has sponsored the race.

Richard Smallwood, Falken's vice president of sales and marketing, says one of the company's goals is to be the major tire sponsor for enthusiast events. In addition to the Pikes Peak race, Falken is a "gold" sponsor for the NOPI (Number One Parts Inc.) Nationals Motorsports Supershow, which will be held Sept. 21-22 in Atlanta, Ga.

Falken also is the "official tire" for the APC Import Expos, which will be held in Denver, Colo., August 31 and Houston, Texas, Sept. 28.

As part of the week-long festivities for the Pikes Peak "Race to the Clouds," Falken invited a number of its dealers, including Meadow Creek Tire, Discount Tire Direct, Action-Gator Tire Stores, Area Wholesale Tire, Martino Tire, Friend Tire, Robison Tire, Dunlap & Kyle, Laramie Tire, President's Tire, Black's Tire and Mid-States Retreaders.
