May 23, 2016

PIRTEK Team Murray rookie, Matt Brabham will start the 100th Indianapolis 500 from the 27th position after Armed Forces Pole Day.

Following yesterday’s qualifying run where Brabham was 26th, the times were scrubbed and a single run against the clock was held for positions 10 through 33. He was the third fastest of the rookie drivers in this year’s Indianapolis 500.

His consistent four lap run delivered an average speed of 225.727mph (363.272kph). His first timed lap was 225.381mph, followed by a quicker 225.918mph, 225.742mph and rounding out with a strong 225.868mph.

The focus for the PIRTEK Team Murray crew now switches to developing the Indianapolis 500 race car, with more practice tomorrow.
The Monday session will be the final time that cars are on track until Miller Lite Carb Day on Friday.

Brabham will be involved in a series of media events throughout the week including a visit to Louisville, Kentucky on the Verizon IndyCar Series multi-city media tour.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation has once again hosted in excess of 100 guests from military and first responder units in the PIRTEK Team Murray Hospitality unit. The visitors enjoyed garage tours and a visit from Matt and the CK Crew - who continue their training ahead of the Tag Heuer Pit Stop Challenge on Friday.
