Christine Guo Will Lead TCG's Import Unit

May 17, 2016

Tire Consultants Group LLC (TCG) has named import professional Christine Guo to oversee its import management, security and compliance unit.

“Ms. Guo’s extensive experience in tire importing, and in the security and compliance  aspects of the business, will prove invaluable to Tire Consultants Group as we broaden the reach and scope of our enterprise,” says Skip Viola, company president.

“Her knowledge of the international marketplace, and her work in paving the way for offshore marketers to take advantage of opportunities here in the U.S., will be key to our growth as we expand our services to clients. Ms. Guo’s expertise and vision will be critical as we continue to move forward.”

Guo is an expert in all facets of tire and wheel importing and the commensurate laws and regulations governing importation, according to TCG. In her new role, she will direct the company’s import management efforts, working with firms across the globe with an interest in penetrating the U.S. market or reinforcing their role in the domestic tire industry.

Guo began her career in 1995 as a product manager importing chemical fertilizers into the Chinese market. She moved to the United States in 1999, where she successfully exported domestic fertilizers. Five years later she joined TBC Corp., serving as import manager for the company’s offshore sourcing function.

As her 20-year tenure in the import/export business progressed, Guo zeroed in on an essential yet untapped aspect of the importing equation, according to TCG.  She realized that many companies eager to break into or expand in the U.S. marketplace did not understand the importation process well enough to circumvent the commensurate risks associated with it. This left them exposed to significant non-compliance issues and liabilities.

Guo concentrated on helping these importers. She secured a license from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, becoming a full-time customs house broker in August 2014. She has provided a variety of importation-related services, including:

* Automated Brokerage Interface (ABI) for electronic entry filing;

* Automated Clearinghouse (ACH) for automated customs-related payments and refunds;

* classification service;

* compliance consultation services;

* remote location filing for importations nationwide;

* post entry amendments;

* ISF filing;

* customs bonds; and

* cargo insurance.

Guo’s appointment was effective May 4, 2016.
