Tire Wholesalers Inc. doubles in size, promises tires in four hours

Troy, Mich.-based Tire Wholesalers Inc. (TWI) is doubling its size thanks to a 44,000-square-foot expansion to its warehouse.

The expansion will be completed this fall and will hold thousands of tire brands and sizes. It will have eight loading bays and is being built as an addition to the existing 35,000-square-foot Troy warehouse.

Along with the new space comes a new marketing strategy, the company says. TWI employees will deliver to any business in the metropolitan Detroit area within four hours.

"This is really pushing the envelope," says Ross Kogel, TWI president. "Our goal is to help any tire business in metropolitan Detroit get the tires they need immediately." Any orders received by TWI by 10 a.m. will be delivered by 2 p.m., and orders received by 2 p.m. will arrive by 6 p.m., the company pledges.

"This business strategy will give TWI three distinct advantages," says Kogel. "We will lower our overhead costs, improve our ability to deliver tires immediately, and expand our warehousing capabilities to give our customers a greater selection of tires."

Kogel founded TWI in 1969 and now has three locations, one each in Troy, Southfield and Cadillac, Mich.
