Hankook Tire Announces 2016 Formula Drift Motorsports Program

March 17, 2016

Continuing on the momentum generated from an impressive 2015 Formula Drift season, which included clinching the Formula Drift Driver’s Championship and being named the 2015 Formula Drift Tire Manufacturer Champion for the third year in a row, Hankook Tire today announced its Formula Drift motorsports plans for 2016.

Hankook races into the 2016 Formula Drift season with four drivers competing in the Pro-Championship class and as a continued official sponsor of the series.  Hankook’s 2016 Formula Drift driver lineup includes 2009 and 2014 Formula Drift Champion Chris Forsberg in the Hankook Tire/Chris Forsberg Racing Nissan 370Z, 2014 Formula Drift ‘Rookie of The Year’ Geoff Stoneback in the Hankook Tire/Chris Forsberg Racing Nissan 370Z, Ryan Tuerck in the Hankook Tire/Ryan Tuerck Racing Scion FR-S and Forrest Wang in the Hankook Tire/Get Nuts Laboratory Nissan S15.

“2015 was an incredible season for Hankook in Formula Drift and we’re excited to have Chris, Geoff, Ryan and Forrest onboard for what is sure to be an exciting 2016 season,” said Henry Kopacz, Hankook Tire America Corp. Public Relations and Social Media Manager. “With the caliber of drivers we have on our roster for this season I can’t wait for our teams to hit the track!”

All of Hankook’s Formula Drift drivers compete on Hankook’s Extreme Performance Ventus R-S3 tire, one of the premier tires in Formula Drift competition. The Ventus RS-3 was designed using the same technology used to build Hankook’s winning Ventus Z214 racing tire and has been proven at Formula Drift races since 2009, garnering Hankook multiple podium finishes, and contributing to Hankook’s championship winning 2015 season.

In addition to its on-site Formula Drift race activities Hankook will be bringing regular updates and multimedia content to its fans via its social media channels including HankookUSA on Facebook (www.facebook.com/HankookUSA) Twitter (@HankookUSA) and Instagram (@HankookUSAracing).

The 2016 Formula Drift racing season begins on Friday, April 8th in Long Beach, California with Round One ‘The Streets of Long Beach”.
