MATDA plans convention in Mayetta, Kan.

The Mid-America Tire Dealers Association (MATDA) will hold its 2005 convention at Harrah’s Prairie Band Casino and Convention Center in Mayetta, Kan., Feb. 18-20.

The convention theme is "Success is no Gamble!" The tentative agenda is as follows:

Friday, Feb. 18: MATDA Board Meeting, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mixer with the board, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 19: "Tax Issues Inc., KET and Sales," 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., presented by Ron Grant, a tax specialist with the Kansas Department of Revenue. "Industry Automotive Panel, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Representatives from NAPA, Carquest and Kendall Motor Oil have been invited to discuss the Right to Repair Act and industry trends, and take questions from attendees. Luncheon, 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. Chairman, CEO and President Tom Dattilo will speak. Passenger and light truck tire repair training certification, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Commercial and ag tire repair certification, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

A live auction, awards banquet and dinner will follow the day´s program. The MATDA´s board of directors will announce its scholarship program winners. (The MATDA´s scholarship program was established by its board of directors to help promote career opportunities in the tire industry for Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma students.)

The MATDA Trade Show will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunday, Feb. 20: Breakfast with the President, 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline. "Industry Panel of Experts," 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Representatives from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Michelin North America Inc. and the Firestone Agricultural Tire Co. have been invited to discuss the Right to Repair Act and industry trends, and take questions from attendees. "Solving the Financial Puzzle," 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., presented by Cooper Tire´s Kurt Geisheimer.

The MATDA will hold its annual meeting during the President’s Breakfast.
