Bridgestone/Firestone, Michelin drop road hazard warranty programs in Canada

Dec. 7, 2004

Both Bridgestone/Firestone Canada Inc. and Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. are discontinuing their passenger and light truck tire road hazard warranty programs at the end of 2004.

"The objective is to have a uniform program throughout North America," says Michael Sigillito, director of consumer tire marketing for Bridgestone/Firestone Canada. "In the United States, we don´t have a program like it."

Bridgestone/Firestone Canada re-introduced its passenger/light truck road hazard warranty program seven years ago, Sigillito told moderntiredealer.com

Bridgestone/Firestone dealers in Canada who want to continue to offer road hazard warranties can "go through a vendor" to do so, he says.

Michelin officials told dealers that "the elimination of (the company´s road hazard program) will provide you, our valued customer, with the opportunity to potentially increase your profitability by designing and selling your own road hazard protection plans."
