Nov. 10, 2004

The PBA Uniroyal Tire Classic begins today in the Cleveland suburb of Wickliffe, Ohio. The tournament, sponsored by Michelin North America Inc. and Conrad´s Tire Service Inc., will run Nov. 10-14 at Freeway Lanes of Wickliffe.

With 26 retail store locations throughout Northeast Ohio, Conrad’s is the largest independent tire dealer in the Cleveland area.

This is the second consecutive season that the Uniroyal brand has been teamed with the PBA to sponsor this nationally televised tournament.

More than 64 bowlers comprise the Professional Bowlfield. They will compete for a total purse of $230,000.

On Sunday, Nov. 14, the final four bowlers will battle for the title during a live ESPN national telecast starting at 1 p.m. EST.

"We are proud to be in this great sports town of Cleveland for what we hope will be an exciting tournament," says Tim Jamison, Uniroyal tire brand director. "Sponsoring the PBA is a great opportunity for us to reach our consumers via live television."

To further support the event, Michelin held a Uniroyal sweepstakes promotion in Cleveland area Conrad’s stores to award four pro-am spots. They will have the opportunity to meet and play with the pros during the pro-am event, Sat. Nov. 13. Winners also will receive a PBA bowling ball, bowling shoes and Uniroyal bowling shirt.

In addition to the title sponsorship, the PBA Uniroyal Tire Classic also will highlight Uniroyal’s team of bowlers, who are competing with other sponsor teams for the $100,000 PBA Tour Team Championship. The Uniroyal Tire team includes Michael Haugen, Jr., Jason Queen and Tony Reyes.
