Monro Muffler Brake Inc. will officially acquire five Rice Service & Tire Centers from Frederick, Md.-based Donald B. Rice Tire Co. this Saturday.
Three of the stores are located in Frederick, one is located in Mt. Airy, Md., and the other is located in LaVale, Md. They will re-open on Oct. 18 as Mr. Tire stores.
Monro acquired the Mr. Tire chain from Mile One Automotive last March.
In May, Monro CEO and President Robert Gross told moderntiredealer.com that Monro was planning to buy more tire dealerships in 2004. "There´s no limit," he said.
Meanwhile, Donald B. Rice Tire has announced plans to expand its commercial truck tire and wholesale divisions.
The dealership reported $50 million in sales last year.
