Goodyear to invest $30 million in Fayetteville

Sept. 15, 2004

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. will invest $30 million in its Fayetteville, N.C., plant to cover a warehouse expansion and the addition of more tire manufacturing equipment.

The project will start early next month and is expected to be completed by the end of 2005.

Some 196,000 square feet will be added to the Fayetteville factory´s warehouse, say Goodyear officials.

The $30 million investment is in addition to a $17.7 million investment announced for the plant by Goodyear in June.

"There is no question that the plant´s performance in recent years has played a big part in the decision to invest there," says Brant Schnackenberg, vice president of manufacturing for Goodyear´s North American Tire unit.

No additional jobs will be created as a result of the investment.

The Fayetteville plant produces Kelly and custom brand products.
