Aug. 19, 2004

Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. (BSAH) has renamed its research center in Akron, Ohio, "Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology."

Formerly known as Bridgestone/Firestone Research LLC, the center´s new name "reflects the broad and diverse role that the center performs for the global Bridgestone Group of companies."

Bridgestone says the research center develops new materials technology for both tires and a wide range of products manufactured by the different companies within the Bridgestone family, especially BSAH.

"The center’s new name reflects the fact that we do so much more than tire research, and that its output is key to the global group of companies," says Dr. Georg Bohm, the research center´s vice president.

Over the years, the Bridgestone Americas Center for Research and Technology has earned the reputation of being one of the leading polymer laboratories in the world.
