Charlie Kerns, owner of Charlie Kerns Truck Retreading Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., was elected president of the North Carolina Tire Dealers and Retreaders Association (NCTDRA) for the next 12 months. He takes over for Roland Boyette of the Heafner Tire Group, the association's new immediate past president.

Three other officers also were installed. Tim Evans, owner of Evans Tire & Auto Center in Smithfield, was elected president-elect; Mike Wolfe, owner of Southeastern Wholesale Tire Supplier in Raleigh, was elected vice president; and John Allen, owner of Hughes Bros. in Wilmington, was re-elected secretary-treasurer.

There also were three first-time directors added to the NCTDRA board:

* Gerald Darden, owner, Goldsboro Tire Service, Goldsboro;

* Carey Mock, partner and vice president, Mock Tire, Winston-Salem;

* Bobby Roland, owner, Downtown Tire Center, Henderson.

Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich installed the new officers.
