Michelin's Dothan, Ala., plant given award

Michelin North America Inc.'s Dothan, Ala., manufacturing facility has been named Alabama Manufacturer of the Year by the Business Council of Alabama (BCA).

The Dothan facility was recognized in the "large" category (more than 300 employees) and joins past winners including The Boeing Co. and Lockheed Martin.

It manufactured its first tire in 1979 and today manufactures Michelin light truck and sport utility vehicle tires for both the OE and replacement market. Tires produced at the facility range from 16 to 20 inches in size for vehicles such as the Ford F-250 pickup truck and Nissan Pathfinder.

The Alabama Manufacturer of the Year Awards program is an annual recognition of Alabama manufacturing enterprises that exhibit excellence in leadership, performance, profitability and work force relations.
