Nissan extends 350Z warranty due to 'tire roar'

April 20, 2004

Nissan is extending its front wheel alignment warranty to approximately 40,000 owners of its 2003 350Z coupe due to tire noise problems caused by misalignment of the vehicle's chassis.

"If the front toe alignment on these vehicles is not correct, an irregular wear pattern can occur on the inner edge of the front tires," said Nissan officials in a recently issued technical service bulletin.

"The wear pattern can cause a noise described as a 'tire roar' or 'tire growl.' This noise may be most noticeable during low speed braking."

Nissan has extended the warranty to two years from the cars' original in-service dates.

The auto manufacturer will start contacting 350Z owners at the end of the month.

All 350Z coupes come equipped with 17- or 18-inch Bridgestone Potenza RE040 tires.
