April 13, 2004

Mark Armstrong has stepped down as executive vice president of Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Tire Group. He will officially retire on May 31 after 26 years with the Findlay, Ohio-based company.

From now until his departure, Armstrong will report directly to Chairman, CEO and President Tom Dattilo "and assist with strategic planning and identifying tactics" to capitalize on global opportunities.

"Mark's contributions to Cooper Tire have been crucial in the development and implementation of our Cooper 21 strategy and providing direction for the tire group," said Dattilo.

Armstrong's sales and marketing leadership also has helped Cooper grow market share and successfully enter the ultra-high performance tire market, he added.

Armstrong joined Cooper as an eastern region territory manager in the late 1970s.
