No kidding: Yokohama kicks-off national promotion today

Yokohama Tire Corp. kicks-off a nationwide promotion today, April Fools Day, to celebrate the launch of its new AVID performance tire.

The "Race-to-Relax" promotion officially introduces the AVID H4/V4 to consumers. Yokohama launched the new generation AVID H4/V4 at last year's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) show in Las Vegas.

Yokohama is providing point-of-sale support to its dealer network. Television and consumer magazine spots also are planned.

The tire's new compound is designed for both comfort and grip on dry, wet and snow covered roads. It has a greater tread wear warranty than the previous generation.

The tire is available in 14- through 18-inch sizes.

"Our belief is that the AVID H4s/V4s will be our most popular broad-line performance tire to date," says Art Michalik, director of marketing communications for Yokohama.

The three grand prize winners will receive an all-expense-paid trip to the Jim Russell Drivers Racing School in Sonoma, Calif. There also are 10 first-place prizes and 10 second-place prizes.

In addition, any consumer who purchases a set of four Yokohama AVID H4s/V4s tires can receive a $100 Marriott Bonus Bucks certificate toward a two night's stay at any Marriott or Renaissance hotel worldwide.
