Continental Tire North America Inc.'s Canadian subsidiary recently sponsored a North American ice race. The 17 European teams participating all drove on ContiIceRacingContact 2 tires.

Winter tire sales in 2003 in Canada were up 32% over 2002, according to Guy Hardiman, marketing/operations coordinator for Continental Tire Canada Inc. At the same time, overall winter tire shipments were down 3%.

"This is key for us as it means we are increasing our market share in an area which is important to Continental.

"With just over four million winter tires sold in Canada, this makes up just over 22% of the entire Canadian (replacement passenger) tire market."
