Alcoa sponsors rockcrawling championships

Feb. 13, 2004

Alcoa Forged Specialty Wheels, a division of Alcoa Inc., has signed on as national sponsor for the ProROCK (Professional Rockcrawlers Organization) 2004 Superlift National Series and Superlift Women's National Rockcrawling Championship.

"Rockcrawling is an exciting and growing sport," says Freddie Franklin, market manager for aftermarket light truck and SUV one-piece, hot-forged aluminum wheels. "We're honored to support the men and women who compete in it and the fans who love it."

This marks the first year Alcoa will be an official sponsor of ProROCK and Women's Rockcrawling.

In the 1990s, Alcoa supported The Turtle Expedition, Unltd., in a round-the-world journey that included driving on the frozen rivers of Siberia in a Ford F-350 equipped with Alcoa wheels. In the 1980s, Alcoa sponsored the Ford/BFGoodrich Rough Rider teams.
