Marangoni signs Tire Treads

Feb. 2, 2004

Jackson, Tenn.-based Tire Treads Inc. has become Marangoni Tread North America Inc.'s (MTNA) 13th Ringtread licensee in the United States.

Tire Treads' decision to join Marangoni stems from the destruction of its mold cure retread plant by a tornado in spring 2003, according to Tire Treads President Mike Crews.

While re-evaluating options following the incident, "we took the opportunity to go with Marangoni," he says.

Tire Treads also uses HB Plus Bandamatic Inc.'s flat tread process.

The 21-year-old company produces 80 to 100 truck tire retreads per day out of one plant, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.

MTNA signed two retreaders last year: Blevins Tire & Recapping in Bristol, Va., and Shrader Tire & Oil in Toledo, Ohio.
