Topics announced for Akron Rubber Group's Winter Technical Meeting

"New Material Developments" is the topic to be discussed at the Akron Rubber Group's Winter Technical Meeting to be held at the Martin University Center in Akron, Ohio, on Thursday, January 22.

Registration will start at 2 p.m. and the technical session will start at 2:30, with John Zeleznik of Preferred Rubber Compounding Corp. serving as Symposium Moderator. Scheduled topics and speakers are:

1. "High MW EPDM via Metallocene Catalyst and Gas Phase Process" by Rajan Vara, DuPont Dow Elastomers.

2. "Processing Effects on the Aging Characteristics of Natural Rubber" by Jim Shell, Cabot Corp.

3. "Nitrosamine Free Material Solutions" by Steven Monthey, Rhein Chemie.

Admission is by 2004 Akron Rubber Group membership only. Memberships can be purchased at the door for $15.

A Suppliers Reception will begin around 5 p.m. Dinner will be served about 6:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $25 prepay (contact Mike Widmor at (330) 666-2777 or [email protected]) or are $30 at the door.

Charles Slack, author of Noble Obsession -—Charles Goodyear, Thomas Hancock, and the Race to Unlock the Greatest Industrial Secret of the Nineteenth Century is tentatively scheduled to be the after-dinner speaker.
