Pirelli will be the official and exclusive tire of the 2002 Tire Rack Cannonball One Lap that starts on May 3 in Rochester, N.Y.
All participants in the eight-day, 5,200-mile race will be required to use Pirelli brand street tires "with emphasis on the PZero Collection and other Pirelli UHP tires," according to Pirelli Tire North America Inc. officials.
Each team can use nine tires per registered car, with four available for pre-event testing and the rest used during the actual race.
The Pirelli brand enjoys 1% of the United States replacement passenger brand market, according to Modern Tire Dealer data.
