Vredestein promises UHP summer, run-flat winter tires

Nov. 7, 2005

"Next year, we'll come out with an ultra-high performance summer tire with a high speed index in 18, 19, 20 and more sizes," says Marc Luyten, Vredestein Banden's director of marketing and sales. "And at the end of 2007, we'll come out with run-flat winter tires."

Luyten made the announcement at last week's SEMA (Specialty Eqipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Nev.

He also reports that Vredestein is boosting its production to 5.5 million tires a year and is installing two more tire plants in Russia.

The Dutch company -- which operates a United States subsidiary, Vredestein Tyres North America Inc. -- is investing some $50 million in Russian production.
