SEMA, DAY THREE: ASA partners with three companies

Nov. 2, 2005

ASA Tire Systems announced three new partnerships at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

1. Mitchell1: The goal of the partnership is to "give store owners increased efficiencies in running their daily operations" by using ASA's TreadX point-of-sale system with Mitchell1's OnDemand5 Estimator, according to ASA.

"The TreadX interface with Mitchell1 gives our customers the opportunity to provide complete service to their customers with one integrated solution," says President Wayne Croswell. "They can review manufacturer-recommended vehicle services, create labor estimates and enter parts -- all within the TreadX system.... TreadX even allows like labor items to be combined with a few simple key strokes."

2. Open Road Technologies: The ASA Mobility Suite features wireless hand-held bar-code readers. The mobile software suite of products initially will focus on inventory management, including receiving inventory. It will be expanded to process emergency service work orders, technician work-in-process functions and car-side order processing.

3. Pearl Communications: Previewed at last year's SEMA Show, the Tire Brands integrated database is complete, according to Dave Duchesne, ASA's vice president of sales. "It gives your salesperson the chance to sell more on value than on price."

The database, part of ASA's TreadX software, allows for one-click access from an inventory look-up screen to an individual "features & benefits" screen, which includes tire images, specifications and UTQG ratings. It will be updated quarterly, adds Duchesne.
