American Tire Distributors gives away $70,000

American Tire Distributors Inc.'s 16th annual Charity Golf Benefit raised $70,000 for two deserving grassroots, non-profit organizations.

Chairman and CEO Dick Johnson was teary-eyed when talking about the two charities: Dove House, a children's advocacy center caring for sexually abused children; and the North Carolina branch of the Special Olympics. Each received $35,000.

There were four levels of sponsors for the event.

Platinum sponsors: Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC, China Manufacturers Alliance LLC, Continental Tire North America Inc., Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc., API Inc., Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co., Michelin North America Inc. and Hewlett Packard.

Gold sponsors: Bank of America Business Capital, Craford Benefit Consultants, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., Hennessy Industries Inc. and Ryder Transportation Services.
