Galaxy, Dynamic merger goes through

Oct. 4, 2005

Galaxy Tire & Wheel Inc.'s merger with Dynamic Tire Corp. to form a new company, GPX International Tire Corp., has been finalized.

GPX's flagship brands will continue to be Galaxy and Primex.

"GPX has several exclusive marketing and distribution contracts covering the United States and Canada that involve radial medium truck and radial OTR tires," say GPX officials. (Galaxy is based in Boston, Mass., while Dynamic is based in Toronto, Ontario.)

"GPX expects to make the full range of tires available through its branches (throughout) the U.S. and Canada by Jan. 1, 2006."

GPX tires will be distributed through seven U.S. warehouses and another warehouse in Canada.

The new company's total assets add up to more than $100 million, according to GPX officials. Its sales are expected to hit $300 million this year.

The merger was announced last June.
