Roanoke, Va.-based White Tire Distributors Inc. will open another Bandag Inc. retread plant in Newport News, Va.
"We hope to get it built in December" in time to start production during the first quarter of 2006, says White Tire Distributors CEO Larry DeHaven.
The plant is expected to produce 100 medium truck tire retreads per day.
"All of the equipment is on order right now."
White Tire Distributors currently has five retread shops. It is in negotiations to acquire two other Bandag plants, according to DeHaven.
White Tire Distributors is the 25th largest retreader in the United States, according to Modern Tire Dealer research. It produces 550 truck tire and 20 light truck retreads per day.
