Bridgestone settles with Chinese tiremaker

Bridgestone Corp. has agreed to resolve its design patent infringement dispute with Chinese tiremaker Shandong Chengshan Tire Co. Ltd.

Last November, Bridgestone asked Shandong to cease production of two radial truck and bus tire models that closely resembled the designs of Bridgestone's R288 and M858 commercial tires.

Bridgestone filed an infringement claim in China two months later.

As part of a court's ruling, Shandong must cease production and sale of the tires mentioned in Bridgestone's complaint.

"Bridgestone continues to emphasize intellectual property in operations and intends to pursue measures, including legal action, against all acts of imitation," say Bridgestone officials.
