Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd.'s new tire design technologies include the company's Multi-scale Simulation and Multi-performance Map programs, which display information on thousands of design proposals.
"The new technologies provide significantly greater range and accuracy in tire design and enable the creation of tires offering a sophisticated balance of such factors as riding comfort, stable handling and minimal noise and vibration," say Yokohama officials.
The new technologies represent a "third-generation advance on (previous) systems."
