Arnco Inc. celebrated the grand opening of a major processing plant in Berea, Ohio, on July 7. The plant will significantly expand its production capacity.
"The major investment on production facilities in the United States is in sharp contrast to the rest of the chemical industry, which, unfortunately, is moving production out of the United States to the Middle East and China," said Arnco President Larry Carapellotti.
The 112,000-square-foot structure on 14 acres of land will feature state-of-the-art design and production technology. According to Carapellotti, it will have 16 times the capacity of the company's current plant in Cleveland, which is being closed.
"Because it was first built for chemical processing, the plant does not require extensive modification and already meets all EPA regulations and other environmental standards," said Joe Negrey, Arnco's director of operations.
"The facility has tank off-loading capabilities, several loading docks, a 33-foot high ceiling with plenty of room for expansion beyond what we will install for our immediate needs. The building also has a 13,000-square-foot explosion-proof area to protect against flammable solvent materials, seven labs and spill containment throughout the facility. It was made for chemical blending."
Negrey added that Arnco expects to double its work force at the new facility. Mark D’Amore, manager of the Cleveland plant, has been named plant manager in Berea.
Arnco, based in South Gate, Calif., also has manufacturing facilities in South Gate and Manchester, England.
