Cooper's Albany plant may unionize

Order Reprints

Workers at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Albany, Ga., plant are voting next week to possibly unionize.

Voting will take place June 7-8.

The Albany facility used to be Cooper's commercial truck tire manufacturing center, but Cooper is in the process of outsourcing truck tire production to Hangzhou (China) Rubber Co. Ltd.'s factory.

However, Cooper has targeted the Albany facility for "significant expansions" throughout 2005 in other production areas.
