CTNA says some Mayfield workers did not file paperwork for health coverage

May 31, 2005

Continental Tire North America Inc. (CTNA) officials are asking laid-off Mayfield, Ky., plant workers who have health care coverage questions to contact the company.

CTNA says it continues to provide health care coverage to employees who were laid off when the factory suspended production activities "in accordance with terms of its collective bargaining agreement with (the old) United Steelworkers of America."

However, company officials say some workers "did not submit applications for continuation coverage within the time frame required under federal law."

The Continental AG subsidiary is "reviewing each case individually and reinstating health care coverage for those who were not provided the opportunity" to submit applications before deadline.
