"We see added opportunities by accessing third party, low-cost products" from Asia, says Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Chairman and CEO Bob Keegan.
Goodyear currently imports 27 million tires into North American and Europe per year, Keegan told investors earlier today. He says that number will grow.
In related news, Keegan mentioned that Goodyear "is analyzing its global (manufacturing) footprint for possible capacity reductions.
"Our objective is to establish a best-in-class manufacturing organization."
Goodyear recently posted its first quarter 2005 results.
