John Orr has replaced Steve Myers as CEO of Myers Industries Inc., effective yesterday.

"After discussions with our board of directors, we decided that it was appropriate to transition CEO responsibilities to John Orr," says Myers.

Myers adds that Orr is "well-suited to direct the company's continuing efforts to maintain and enhance leadership positions in each of our key product areas."

Orr has served as president and COO of Myers Industries since 2003. He joined the company two years earlier.

Myers, who joined the firm in 1967, has been its CEO since 1984. He has agreed to remain chairman of Myers Industries' board of directors.

Myers Industries posted revenue of $803 million in 2004.
