Michelin rolls out new performance tire, touring tires

April 18, 2005

The Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S is the latest all-season high performance offering from Michelin North America Inc (MNA).

The tire targets vehicles like the Mazda Miata, Nissan 240SX, Honda Prelude, Toyota Celica GT, Acura Integra and others.

It will be available next month in 15 H-rated sizes, plus 10 V-rated sizes, ranging from 14 to 17 inches in diameter. Aspect ratios will range from 45 to 60 series.

"Drivers who would choose the new Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tire are driving enthusiasts," says Eric Sweigart, Michelin ultra-high performance category manager, Michelin Americas Small Tires.

Also new from MNA are the replacement Michelin Pilot MXM4 and the Michelin Energy MXV4, both of which are designed for touring car fitments. (MNA has offered the MXM4 as original equipment since 1998.)

MNA officials say the MXM4 "extends the performance envelope in nearly every direction" for the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and other vehicles.

The MXV4 is being marketed as a "near luxury" touring tire with emphasis on comfort and wear.
